Medicine Dream concert benefits sober living

Palmer, Alaska      People in Peril, an organization dedicated to providing sober housing opportunities for people in the valley, is hosting a fund raiser at the Palmer depot May 19th.

From 1:00AM - 5:00PM a celebration of sobriety will sake place at the depot with a 2:00pm potluck and raffle taking place. Throughout the afternoon Native Alaskan dancing and traditional dancers will be performed and their will be Native Alaskan arts and crafts for sale on display. Tickets will be sold throughout the day for a 7:00pm concert.

Medicine Dream, a Native Alaskan band, will be hosting the concert, all in the name of sobriety.

"They are international recording artists. They've just returned from Albuquerque NM, from the Native American Music Awards," said DeEtte Johnson, of People in Peril.

"They were nominated for three awards there. They are a pretty well known Native Alaskan band. They are dedicated to sobriety. They take a big stand for it," Johnson said.

Tickets for the concert are $10.00

People in Peril has a mens house in Palmer a womens house in Wasilla dedicated to sobriety living situations.
